High-severity flaws in firewall appliances could weaken perimeter defenses and enable unauthorized control

CyberShelter Threat Intelligence Team highlights two high-severity vulnerabilities disclosed by WatchGuard Technologies affecting Firebox appliances running Fireware OS.

Tracked as CVE-2026-4315 and CVE-2026-4266, these vulnerabilities could allow attackers to:

  • Trigger denial-of-service (DoS) conditions
  • Perform unauthorized administrative actions
  • Potentially achieve remote code execution under specific conditions

Important Note:
Fireware OS 11.x is End of Life (EOL) and no longer receives security updates.

CVE-2026-4266 – Insecure Deserialization

  • Severity: High (CVSS 8.4)
  • Component: Fireware Access Portal

This flaw could allow attackers to exploit insecure deserialization, leading to:

  • Remote code execution
  • Service disruption

Affected Versions

  • Fireware OS 12.1 → 12.11.8
  • Fireware OS 2025.1 → 2026.1.2

Not Affected

  • Devices without Access Portal support (e.g., Firebox T15, T35)
