Upstox, the second-largest stock broker in India, suffered a data breach exposing user data like Aadhar, PAN,  bank account numbers and more.

Upstox is a Delhi-based discount stock broker that allows its customers to buy and sell shares.

The retail broking firm reported that customers and funds of customers are safe, strengthening security at its servers.

The company added that it has assigned a “leading cyber-security firm to investigate possibilities of breach of some KYC data stored in third-party data warehouse systems” following the receipt of unauthorised access into its database.

The data breach exposed vital information like Aadhaar numbers, bank account numbers and PAN card details, email addresses, mobile numbers and even the photos of signatures.

“Funds can only be moved to your linked bank accounts, and your securities are held with the relevant depositories. As a matter of abundant caution, we have also initiated a secure password reset via OTP,” wrote Ravi Kumar in a statement issued on the website.

Multiple security enhancements are initiated by the company, mainly real-time 24x7 monitoring, third-party warehouses and additional ring-fencing of its network.
