Switzerland based cloud hosting provider Swiss Cloud suffered a ransomware attack that brought down the company’s server infrastructure.

The incident took place on April 27, Tuesday, according to Swiss Cloud.

The company is currently working to restore operations from its backups and the help of experts from HPE and Microsoft.

“After the cyber attack on April 27, work is proceeding to clean up the systems and restore normal operations at swiss cloud computing ag. The backup systems can be used for recovery. Parts of the complex server network affected by the attack must first be cleaned up individually and reconfigured with the corresponding temporal effects,” reads a statement published by the company on its status page.

The company is working in 24-hour shifts, including over the weekend, to restore services as early as next week.

“On Monday morning, May 3, Swiss Cloud computing ag will inform you again about the current status and outlook.”

The firm did not reveal any information about the security breach, and by next week the impacted servers are expected to be restored.

Even though the incident did not impact the company’s entire server infrastructure, the disruption has impacted server availability for more than 6,500 customers.

One of the most high-profile customers affected by Swiss Cloud’s outage is Sage, a company that delivers payroll and HR software for German-speaking countries.
