A major Safari bug is suspected to be affected by the vulnerability that allows attackers to access your sensitive information.

IndexedDB is a widely used browser API for a client-side storage system with no capacity limits.

It is typically deployed for caching web application data for offline viewing, dev tool, while modules and browser extensions can use it to store sensitive information.

The bug affects newer versions of browsers using Apple's open-source browser engine, WebKit, including Safari 15 for Mac and Safari on all versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.

FingerprintJS, a browser fingerprinting and fraud detection service, discovered that the bug arose from an issue with Apple’s implementation of IndexedDB.

According to the report, more than 30 websites interact with indexed databases directly on their homepage, without any additional user interaction or the need to authenticate.

Every time a website interacts with a database, a new database with the same name is built in all other active frames, tabs, and windows within the same browser session.
