Popular Online Farm Equipment and Land Auction Service Site Sandhills Global suffered a ransomware attack disrupting their business operations.
Sandhills Global is a US-based trade publication and hosting company catering to the transportation, agriculture, aircraft, heavy machinery, and technology industries
The website for Sandhills Global and all hosted publications were out from yesterday.
When trying to access websites hosted on Sandhill’s platform, users are greeted with a Cloudflare Origin DNS error page, indicating that Cloudflare cannot connect to Sandhill’s servers.
The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday, causing the company to shut down its IT systems to prevent the attack's spread.
Ohio-based Randall Brothers Farm Equipment was saying on Instagram, “Due to issues with Sandhills Publishing, we are experiencing difficulties with our telephone lines and website.”
Some of the well-known publications operated by Sandhills that are no longer accessible include TractorHouse, Truck Paper, AuctionTime, HiBid, Machinery Trader, ForestryTrader, RentalYard, CraneTrader, Motorsports Universe, MarketBook, RV Universe, Aircraft, Oil Field Trader, LiveStockMarket, Controller, and Aircraft.com.
According to BleepingComputer, the Conti ransomware gang is responsible for the attack. It is unknown whether they stole data during the attack and, if so, how much ransom is demanded from the firm.
In a message to its customers, Sandhills Global said, “Systems and operations have been temporarily shut down to protect data and information, and we have retained cybersecurity experts to assist us with the investigation, which is ongoing.”
