The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), alongside international law enforcement partners, seized Rydox, An online marketplace on the dark web for cybercriminals.
Three administrators were arrested: Ardit and Jetmir Kutleshi (Kosovo nationals arrested in Kosovo) and Shpend Sokoli (arrested in Albania).
Rydox, active since 2016, acted as a broker for services that sold personal information (PII), access devices, and cybercrime tools. Over 7,600 transactions generated a lot of revenue, mostly affecting victims in the United States. Stolen data included credit card information, login credentials, and other PII.
The DOJ obtained a court order to seize the Rydox domain (www.Rydox.cc) and approximately $225,000 worth of cryptocurrency linked to the defendants. Servers in Malaysia hosting the marketplace were also seized, taking the Rydox website offline.
The Kutleshi brothers are charged with identity theft, access device fraud, and money laundering.

This operation was a joint effort by international law enforcement agencies. The FBI, Albania's SPAK, Kosovo law enforcement agencies, and the Royal Malaysian Police all took part in this takedown.
Finally, Rydox takedown shows that international cooperation is key to fighting global cybercrime.
This is evident in recent operations like Operation Poweroff where 27 DDoS-for-hire platforms were taken down. These operations, along with others, show a growing trend of global crackdowns on criminal activity online.
