Researchers discovered a bug in macOS 10.13.2 which allows you to unlock App Store System Preferences with any username and password or no password at all.Researchers said that as long as you are logged in as the local admin, the App Store Preferences in System Preferences can be unlocked by any bogus password.The bug was reported by open radar and said that it only works when logged in as local admin. When tested with a non-admin account he failed to unlock it.

The bug was tested in macOS 10.13.1 version, and it did not work. When tested in the latest beta 4 version macOS 10.13.3 the result was same. So it appears to be Apple has known about the issue and users can expect a fix in the upcoming software update.Users can check whether your system is affected or not by the below steps:
  1.  Log in as a local admin
  2. Open App Store Prefpane from the System Preferences
  3. Lock the padlock if it is already unlocked
  4. Click the lock to unlock it
  5. Enter any bogus password
  6.  click unlock
That's it, you will have full access to the app store setting, and you can change setting such whether to install the update or not or disable automatic update installation and more.Earlier a bug was discovered in macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 version which allows the user to create a Root account and gain admin access without a password.Users just need to write root in the username field and leave password field blank and press Unlock button repeatedly until the user is created.
