Amazon AWS in the US-EAST-1 Region suffered an outage on Tuesday that affected numerous online services and impacted customers globally.
Amazon said the outage was probably due to problems related to the application programming interface (API), a set of protocols for building and integrating application software, Reuters reported.
“We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-EAST-1 Region,” Amazon said in a report on its service health dashboard, adding that it has identified the cause and was working to resolve the issue.
The company explained in the report that it was working on several different “mitigation and resolution actions” but that it did not have a calculated time when services would be fully back online.
Valorant, League of Legends, and PUBG are some of the games impacted by the downtime today. The issues prevent players from logging in to these games, with Uplay and the Epic Games Store also affected.
The outage was also reportedly affecting delivery operations. CNBC reported that a Washington state Amazon driver said his facility had been “at a standstill” since Tuesday morning.
According to their social media pages, Amazon’s Ring security cameras, mobile banking app Chime, and robot vacuum cleaner maker iRobot were also facing issues.
According to Downdetector, other websites and apps affected include the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), dating site Tinder and language learning provider Duolingo.
The outage also affected Adele’s upcoming performances in Las Vegas presale tickets. “Due to an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage impacting companies globally, all Adele Verified Fan Presales scheduled for today have been moved to tomorrow to ensure a better experience,” Ticketmaster said on Twitter.
“Many services have already recovered; however, we are working towards full recovery across services," Amazon said on its status dashboard.
