Researchers from vx-underground reported that over 70,000,000 records from an undisclosed division of AT&T were leaked on Breached.
AT&T, an American multinational telecommunications corporation, ranks as the world's fourth-largest telecommunications company in revenue and is the largest wireless carrier in the United States.
The researchers have verified the authenticity of the leaked data. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether the information was obtained from a third-party organization associated with AT&T.
“It should be noted before anyone hits us with an “aktschually” – the data was stolen in 2021. It was leaked online today.” said vx-underground.
In August 2021, the ShinyHunters group asserted possession of a database containing private data of approximately 70 million AT&T customers. However, the company refuted claims that the data had been pilfered from its systems.
ShinyHunters, a well-known hacking group, has gained notoriety for peddling data pilfered from numerous prominent organizations for sale. These include Tokopedia, Homechef, Chatbooks.com, Microsoft, and Minted.
